I just found out about the affair.

I haven't been keeping tabs on John Edwards for months.

I saw Elizabeth on the cover of People Magazine today. That was the first I had heard of the affair. Maybe because I don't watch a ton of network news or read the paper. I didn't read the People magazine story. I came up with the worst case scenario as possible for both Elizabeth and John. I walked away in complete disgust.

I read the text of Elizabeth's statement at The Huffington Post.

I think her statement is beautiful. Her words about privacy, refrain from judgment, Tabloid Journalism and love made me instantly relax. Who am I to say that a future Presidents or elected Presidents can't have affairs.

The reality is they do. I can't argue with reality. I do not subscribe to morality that is perfect. However, when I am in a place of peace (and not straight irritation or disgust) I truly believe that when it comes to affairs of the heart no one can know what goes on between two people. I don't have to like it. When I hear people try to explain their love for another person I realize, they don't need to explain anything.

Attorney General John Edwards?

Thom Hartman, KPOJ/Air America Talk show host, mentioned the idea of John Edwards as Attorney General this morning on his program.

I've been thinking about it all day.

What are you thoughts?

Edwards: Give The Power Back To The People

I do not view John Edwards' response as a "personal attack" on Hillary Clinton. Why are the people in the audience booing?

Without attacking the audience I can only assume that they are Hillary Clinton supporters who veiw anything in the way of a clear DISTINCTION between her and the other candidates as an attack.

Please discuss!

Learning About Campaign Financing

The following video is an interview with Massie Ritsch from the Center for Responsive Politics explaining some of the rules of campaign finance.

OpenSecrets.org is a website that reports on campaign finance. John Edwards is 3rd in funds raised but has not gone over budget! Look at Obama and Clinton (click on image to make it larger):

People want to be asked to do something!

Here is a clip from Real Time With Bill Maher:

Here are a couple of my favorite quotes from this clip:

John Edwards on Terrorism:

"We can't give this president an inch when it comes to war."

John Edwards on The Environment:

"People want to be asked to do something. They want to take responsibility for their country... How about we take responsibility for this country that we love instead of just taking responsibility for ourselves."

HELLO REALITY TRAIN! It IS our responsiblity to take care of this country...

NAACP - Criminal Justice Goals, I think John Edwards read this!

In the MTV/Myspace Presidential Debate John Edwards practically quoted what the NAACP has listed for their Criminal Justice Goals, when asked "What would you do to help eliminate inner city kids partake in violence?"

here are some statistics I found on the NAACP -- Criminal Justice Goals chart:
1. Blacks represent 12% of total population yet represent 29.5% of those arrested
2. Once arrested, blacks are three times more likely to be incarcerated than whites
3. Of 682 defendants charged with federal crimes subject to death penalty 20% were white, 80% minority

John Edwards makes reference to all of this. This leads me to believe he has an astute understanding of this kind of institutional racism.

Political Sabotage part 1

Some blogs are having fun accusing John Edwards of being a racist.

Like this blog: Gateway Pundit
and this blog: Dangney's Rant

But it seems to me these blogs are incorrect. It appears these blog are miss quoting. If you have listened to John Edwards full response you would know these blogs are taking things out of context. Are they spreading lies?

When people cry out "Doh! Racism!" they know that is a near leathal blow. It's like calling someone a rapist. So when you stand up and call someone out you better know what you are talking about.

When I call you out I know when something is not true and you say it anyway - It's a lie.

Where's my outrage?

Right here. Bring it on.

John Edwards is NOT a racist!

I watched this video of John Edwards at the MTV/Myspace Debate and do not understand how this can be conceived as racist:

The blog that spurred this debate!

The people who are saying John Edwards is a racist are wrong. They are confused about being a racist and talking about race.
